Clare Price, an Occupational Therapist working for Just Checking, is to run three days of ‘Dementia Awareness Training’ on behalf of the Telecare Services Association (TSA).

The dates will be attended by those within the telecare/telehealth sector who could benefit from an enhanced understanding of dementia, and will cover topics such as signs and symptoms of dementia, person centred care, medication and the dementia journey through the NHS and Social Services.

Clare has extensive experience of working with dementia throughout her career in mental health and NHS trusts. As she explains: “The number of people living with dementia in our society is rapidly increasing; in the UK it’s predicted to double in the next forty years. As the health and social care sector looks increasingly to assistive technology and telecare to support both the assessment and care of people with dementia, it is vital that those working in the industry receive training to gain a better understanding of dementia. We now need to look at ‘dementia care’ more creatively. We can no longer view understanding dementia as purely the domain of our colleagues working in health and social care. Dementia is everybody’s business.’’
