About Us
Just Checking was developed as a result of talking to the families of people with dementia, who told us how they worry about their relative who lives alone.
In 2004 we were awarded a DTI research and development grant to develop and pilot this innovative system. We piloted it with social services of several local authorities and improved it so that it could also be used for short-term assessments. One in three of all local authorities are now using Just Checking for assessment and care planning. The company is independently owned by its management team.
Awards
Leeds mental health intermediate care service won second place in the Leeds Health Star Awards, with its use of Just Checking to improve assessment and care planning. The awards highlight excellence in innovation and improvement in NHS care across the city.
Our clients, Herefordshire County Council and Herefordshire PCT, were runners up in the West Midlands regional final of the 2009 NHS Health and Social Care Awards, with their clever use of Just Checking in their mental health intermediate care service.
Just Checking was highly commended in the National E-Well Being Awards, announced in April 2008, which recognise the innovative use of ICT to improve people's lives.
Congratulations to the 100 pioneering local authorities and PCTs that have embraced this new technology over the last 3 years and helped people with dementia to live independently for longer.

In 2007, Just Checking won second place in the CPP Daily Telegraph Trailblazers Award for innovative ways of coping with modern day living.
Celia Price, Director and co-founder, worked in European research and development of assistive technology for 15 years before setting up Just Checking. Formerly a marketeer, she has a MSc in Gerontology and a particular interest in dementia.
